Speaker: Prathap Basappa, Norfolk State University, Norfolk, Virginia Location: FCC1 Conference Room Date: August 6, 2009 Time: 2 P.M. ABSTRACT: Professor Basappa and three Norfolk State University undergraduate students are working this summer in the Facilities Department of the Computing Division with Tim Kasza, Adam Walters and David Ritchie under the DOE Funded FaST (Faculty and Student Teams) program to improve temperature monitoring in the FCC Computer Rooms. Professor Basappa will speak on his current research into Electrical Discharges at Norfolk State University. This talk focuses on the Hardware and Software techniques that are currently being used in our laboratory, their limitations and possible future directions explored in our laboratory to shed more light into the electrically initiated degradation in insulation system and its quantification for industrial applications. |
