Abstract:
The discovery of the Higgs Boson is one of the most prominent results of the Large Hadron Collider’s first running period. It was rewarded by the Nobel Price in Physics in 2013. I will explain the prominent role, large scale computing played in the discovery. I will explain the basic principles of the computing technologies used to enable thousands of physicists hunt for the Higgs Boson in Petabytes of data.
