With the expansion of computer facilities to a second data centre in
Budapest, the tools used to manage the CERN computer centre and its resources
are undergoing a major transformation to improve efficiency and enhance
scalability. This talk will cover the aims of the agile infrastructure project and experience with large scale deployment using open source tools. The different approaches to use infrastructure-as-a-service to provide grid and server consolidation will be covered along with the plans for the future as we move towards doubling the Tier-0 computing capacity in the next two years.

Group Bio:

The Operating Systems and Infrastructure Services group support 3 operating systems (Windows, Linux, MacOS) for desktops and servers along with a range of services for information exchange, personal and group communications, collaborative work, printing, certificates and authentication. In addition, we manage infrastructure for centrally managed servers such as virtualisation, clouds and custom hosts.
