For more than a decade, Fermilab has been actively involved in the C++ standardization effort, promoting directions of special interest to the physics community. These efforts have been realized in two recently-issued C++ international standards: a revision (ISO/IEC 14882:2011, known informally as C++11) of the entire C++ core language and library, and a new standard (ISO/IEC 29124:2010) that extends the standard C++ library for special mathematical functions.

This report describes selected new and enhanced language and library features that allow programmers to produce C++ programs with improved expressivity, safety, and performance.
